What should i do if i'm feeling convicted about something?
As a result of being born into sin and shaped into iniquity, we have been unfortunately conceived into a sinful human nature that creates a lot of the problems we face. This then makes us vulnerable to falling into sin and performing sinful deeds. Things such as temptations, covetousness, lying, cheating, idolatry, hypocrisy, fornication, etc.
No matter our social strata, background or even our spiritual responsibilities (the spiritual gifts we minister with), we all face the taunting hands of temptation. Sometimes we may even fall into the trap of the enemy but God doesn't let us suffer for no reason (1 Corinthians 5:5).
Remember, there's a reason and season for everything under the heavens! (Ecclesiastes 3:1).
Sometimes whenever we do fall into temptation and go against God's will--it might be as small as attending a party and being tempted to drink and/or smoke--we become so conscious and convicted about it, but we sometimes still let it roll over thinking it's no big deal because it was just for fun or a "one-time thing'. We must remember as Human Beings, God communicates with us in numerous of ways. Ways such as through people, certain situations, dreams or visions, our conscience, prayer and especially through his divine truth-God's word. Therefore, if we are feeling convicted about something we did, in most cases God is allowing us to feel conscious about it and that's His way of communicating with us about what we did. This is why many times in these type of situations, we feel guilt or shame, it's because God was not proud of what we did. However, this is where His FORGIVENESS comes into play.
Nevertheless.....
These sort of things (falling into temptation) are really dangerous to our spiritual growth and health. We can not expect to be called Christians and do not live up to the honorable and righteous life that God wants us to live. (1 Peter 2:12, Matthew 5:16) Our actions should speak volumes and our faith should be made perfect through our actions (James 2:22).
Yes your weight might be heavy, and your problem might be big, but your GOD IS BIGGER AND STRONGER!
Remember what ever you face that Christ Jesus came on earth and was tempted (eg. Matthew 4:1-11) just as we were but yet without sin (Hebrew 4:15). So aim to follow in His footsteps!
We're not to feel ashamed to come to God when we do sin and fall into temptations, instead we're to let Him in....give Him the keys to open every room in your life, by confusing your every sins to Him. He hears you and guess what's the best part?
HE WILL FORGIVE YOU OF YOUR EVERY SINS!! 1 John 1:19
Try God today...He wont bite, because all he wants to do is remove your sins from you (Psalms 103:12) and cleanse you from all unrighteous, as previously mentioned in 1 John 1:19.
GOD'S CHILD...YOU ARE FORGIVEN!
